I have wanted to tackle a 365 Project (366 in this case as it's a leap year) since my days at Ontario College of Art in the early 90's. But I knew myself well, and was certain it would end up incomplete like so many other projects in the past. I'm one of those people who always has more than a few projects on the go, and find myself jumping around between them like a madman afflicted with ADD. When I heard a small group of geocaching friends were going to attempt their own 365 Project, I decided that I would join in the fun, and that it might provide me the extra incentive to complete it. And besides, it will make an awesome photo album to look back on a single year in my life, day-by-day. And since painting has for my entire life, been my main focus creatively, the fact that this will be my first real photographic project with any sort of focus, is exciting, and should be a great learning experience.

Day 149: Started my day early today with a hike on the Centennial Ridges trail in Algonquin, with the intention of getting some shots as the sun rose. From this point in the trail, I continued up to the top of the ridge for an awesome 180 degree view to the west.

Day 146: After spending the day paddling through various lakes, and trudging along many mosquito infested portages we made our way back to our campsite on High Falls Lake. Two of us decided that we had to come see High Falls up close.  A short paddle, and walk along an overgrown portage, and we were treated to this and another nearby waterfall.

Day 145: Today was the beginning of our paddling fun, which included a detour to High Falls, and it’s natural water slide, and then to High Falls Lake where we would camp for two nights. The spot where this old abandoned rail line crosses is where we pass from Grand Lake into Stratton Lake; very early in our day.

Day 144: I spent today caching my way from Whitney to Achray campground in the southeastern corner of Algonquin Park, to join up with some friends for several days of paddling and camping. This particular spot was the highlight of the day, as we all had a sneak preview of part of our canoe route through the Barron Canyon…. from above. The trail here brings the hiker to several breathtaking views of the canyon and the river below.

Day 143: I spent the better part of today on the road, with the intent of finding a few caches along Algonquin Park’s southern Highway 60 corridor. Of course I dragged my camera along for every hike, and got lots of photos, but chose one of the last images of the day. I stopped at Brewer Lake, near the park’s east gate, and watched the sun go down, before heading to Whitney for the night.
